We work out of 46 B Shivprasad Banglow, which is tucked away in Lane No 2 of Pandit Colony in Nashik. It’s a nice area, quite close to the Copa Cabana Hotel. Rupali And Vivek Jaykhedkar Architects is basically just the two of us and a small team handling the daily grind of architecture. Using a bungalow as an office gives us a bit more room than a standard commercial block might. It feels a bit more like a home, which is nice since we spend so much time here. Nashik is a great place to live and work, and Pandit Colony is central enough that we can get around easily. Our desks are usually piled with site reports and rolls of drawings. We don’t really go for a high-end corporate look. We just want a space where we can think and draw without too much fuss. Most of our clients come in and sit around the big table to talk through their ideas. It’s a very direct way of doing things. We’ve been doing this for years, and the routine is pretty set now. We start early, stay late if we have to, and try to make sure everything we design is going to actually work when it’s built. It isn’t about being fancy; it’s about being reliable. Being near the hotel helps people find us if they haven’t been to the colony before. It’s a quiet, productive spot.
