Our clinic is quite modest. We don't have those big leather chairs or a fancy coffee machine in the waiting room, but we have the tools we need to fix teeth. I start the day by opening the shutters and letting some air in. The weather here can be quite nice, though it gets damp during the rains. Most days are spent doing fillings or helping people who have a bit of pain. We don't rush anyone out of the chair. If someone wants to talk about their family or the crops, we listen. It makes the day go by faster. Sometimes the water pressure acts up, which is a bit of a pain for the dental units, but we manage. My cousin helps me out with the filing and the cleaning in the afternoons. We get a lot of older folks from the nearby villages who have never been to a dentist before. They are often nervous, so we have to be patient. It’s a quiet life for us here, just doing what we can for the people in Thrubit. We usually close up around seven and walk home to have dinner with the family.
