Our tailoring shop is at B-7 in Hari Sankul, over in Matoshree Nagar. If you know where Shanti Park is in Upnagar, we are right near there. It’s a small place, but we’ve got enough room for our sewing machines and the cutting tables. There is always the sound of machines running when you walk in. Scraps of fabric and thread are all over the floor by the end of the day. It’s just the reality of the job. Tailoring has been our life for a long time now, so we have a pretty steady rhythm. People from the neighborhood bring in their clothes for all sorts of reasons, mostly repairs or getting something new made up. A fancy waiting area doesn't exist here, just a couple of stools if someone needs to sit for a minute. The light in the shop is okay, but we use extra lamps over the machines to see the stitches clearly. It gets hot in the summer, so we keep the fans going full blast. We aren't a big factory or anything. It's just a local shop where we work with our hands. Sometimes we get backed up with orders, especially before festivals, and we have to work late into the evening. That is just how it goes. Being in Matoshree Nagar is nice. It’s a good community and we know many of the faces passing by our door every day. We just focus on the sewing and finishing.
