Khan Masala Center

If you find yourself at Shivaji Chowk in Manmad, you’ll see Khan Masala Center right there at Plot No. A34/54. We’re very close to the Ganesh Mandir, so we hear the temple bells all day long, which is actually quite nice when things get stressful. My family has been running this masala shop for quite a bit of time now. It’s a small place, packed floor to ceiling with different jars and bags. When the wind blows a certain way, the whole street smells like coriander and cumin. We don’t spend money on advertising because people just know us from being in the neighborhood for so long. Sometimes we sit out front on a stool when business is slow and just watch the traffic go by at the chowk. It’s a busy intersection, so there is always something to see. We do our own grinding and mixing right here in the back. It’s dusty work, and your hands end up smelling like spices for days no matter how much you wash them, but that’s just part of the job. We aren't trying to be some huge company. We just want to make sure the people in Manmad have good stuff for their kitchens. Sometimes customers stay and chat for twenty minutes about nothing in particular, and that’s just fine with us. It makes the day go by a lot faster.
