Kalpataru Spices

You can find Kalpataru Spices on the first floor above the Readymade Point shop in Nihal Pura. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but it's where we do everything. Being in Nihal Pura means it's always noisy outside with people shopping and traffic. We deal with spices all day, so the whole floor usually smells like pepper or cardamom. Sometimes the smell is so strong it stays on your clothes when you go home. We have big bags stacked up against the walls. We spend a lot of time weighing things out and putting them into smaller bags. It’s manual work mostly. There’s a window that looks out over the street, and we watch the crowd when we take a break. The fan hums all day to keep the air moving. We aren't a big company with a lobby. It's just a workspace with a few tables and plenty of weighing scales. Most of our neighbors are other small shops. We’ve known them for years. If a delivery is late, we just wait and maybe have some coffee. Dealing with spices depends a lot on the season. Sometimes we have too much, and other times we are waiting for the harvest to come in. We just keep going, day after day, up here on the first floor. It is a bit cramped when we get a big shipment, but we make it work somehow.
