Haak Marathi Foundation

We are located over at Escon Residencys in Nashik, specifically at Flat A-9 in Plot 9 and 10 of Fadool Mala. It is a quiet enough spot most days, though the neighborhood has been growing quite a bit lately. This foundation started because we wanted to do something locally for the Marathi community here. We don’t have a big fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. It is just a regular flat where we sit down and get through the paperwork and planning. Sometimes the rain makes the commute to Fadool Mala a bit of a mess, but we show up anyway. We spend a lot of time talking to people who walk in or call us from around the 422010 zip code. It’s mostly about keeping the language and culture part of our daily lives without making a big fuss about it. We have a few desks, some old files, and usually a pot of tea going. The work isn't always exciting. There are days spent just organizing lists or figuring out how to help a neighbor with a specific problem. We try to keep things straightforward and honest. If someone needs something, we see if we can manage it. Most of us grew up around here, so we know the streets and the people well. It feels more like a community project than a formal organization most of the time. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing.
