If you find yourself at Mumbai Naka, you are pretty close to where Dr Suryawanshi Eye Hospital is located. It is a busy part of the city, so there is always the sound of horns and engines coming in from the street. The hospital itself isn't a massive skyscraper; it’s a more grounded building that fits into the local landscape. Inside, the first thing you see is the eye chart on the far wall with all those letters getting smaller and smaller. We have a row of chairs for people who are waiting to get their vision checked, and they are usually full by mid-morning. The tiles on the floor are a speckled pattern that hides the dust fairly well until we mop it at night. We keep a lot of glasses frames in a display case, and some of the hinges are a bit loose from people trying them on all day. Dr Suryawanshi is usually busy in the back room, so the rest of us manage the front desk and help people fill out their basic details. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than five people are waiting at once, but we make it work. We don't have any fancy music playing in the background, just the hum of the cooling unit.
