You can find Morya Electrical over in Damodar Nagar, right in the Ambad area. We’ve been here since the neighborhood was a lot smaller than it is now. The shop is full of wires, switches, and those little bits and pieces that people always seem to lose. It’s not the neatest place you’ll ever see. I keep most of the tools in the back, but they often end up on the front counter when I’m in a rush. We do a lot of repairs and we also sell some basic supplies to folks living nearby. Most of our work comes from people walking in with a broken fan or a light that won't turn on. I try to get things fixed by the next day, but sometimes parts take longer to arrive from the city. I don't have a team of secretaries or anything. It’s just me and a kid who helps out on the weekends. We don't spend money on advertising; people just know we’re here. Sometimes the power goes out in the whole block and then everyone comes by at once to complain or ask when it’s coming back. I tell them I’m an electrician, not the power company, but they still ask anyway. It’s a busy life but it keeps the bills paid and it’s good to be part of the community here in Ambad. I’ve probably fixed a lamp in almost every house on this street by now.
