You will find Dahekar Accident & Maternity Hospital in the Crown Complex, right across from the Rajiv Gandhi Bhava. It is an interesting mix of things happening here. On one side, we have women coming in to have babies, which is usually a happy time for the families. On the other side, we deal with accidents and emergencies that come in from the road. It makes for a very unpredictable workday. The Crown Complex is a busy building, so there is always movement in the corridors. Our space isn't huge, but we have made the most of it with the beds and the equipment we have. The walls are a plain color and we don’t have any fancy decorations or soft music playing. It’s a practical environment for doing medical work. The nurses are usually running around between the maternity ward and the emergency area. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when two things happen at once, but we just handle it the best we can. We don't have a big corporate office or a PR person. If you come here, it’s because you need help right away or you are expecting a new member of the family. Most of our patients are from the local area who know the Rajiv Gandhi Bhava landmark. We just keep things moving, day and night, and try to keep everything organized despite the constant rush of people coming in and out of the Crown Complex.
