Abhijeet Ambulance

We operate out of Ganesh Apartment in the Satpur area, right near Shivaji Nagar. It’s mostly about being ready for whatever happens. The phone rings at all sorts of weird hours, like two or three in the morning. We just get up, get dressed, and go. The ambulance van is parked right outside in the designated spot. It’s definitely not a glamorous job by any means. There is a lot of waiting around for the next call to come in. We spend that time keeping the oxygen tanks full and making sure the stretcher mechanism is working smoothly. Satpur can have some really bad traffic, especially near the industrial zones during shift changes. We have to know all the back roads and shortcuts to get around the jams. Sometimes the phone signal is bad or the directions are confusing and we have to rely on what we know about the streets. It’s a small operation. Just a couple of drivers and some basic medical gear in the back. We’ve seen a lot of different situations over the years. Some days are very quiet and we just sit around the apartment office drinking tea. Other days it’s non-stop from morning until night. We don't have a big corporate office with desks and computers. It's more of a home base for the team. People call us because they know we are local and close by in Shivaji Nagar. We just try to be quick.
