Jaggery Plant Co.

Our place is the Jaggery Plant Co. and you can find us in Bhugwara village. It’s out in the Kareli tehsil, not too far from Burma Road. Working out here in the village is quite different from being in a city. Everything depends on the season and the harvest of the cane. When the cane is ready, the whole area gets very busy and there is a lot of heat and steam from the boiling process. You can smell the sweetness in the air from a mile away on the road. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing team to sell things. It’s just us working the plant and making sure the jaggery comes out right for the people. The road near us can get a bit dusty when the tractors are moving back and forth all day. We spend a lot of time outside under the sheds rather than sitting in an office. It is honest work and it gets your hands dirty and sticky. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit for it to come back, but that’s just part of life in the village. We know all the farmers around here and they know us by name. There isn't much formality in how we do things. If someone needs to talk to us, they just walk up to the plant and ask. We handle the packing and the loading ourselves most of the time. It is a simple life centered around the crops and the weather in Bhugwara.
