Venkataiah Farming

Life out here in Laknepally is mostly about the land. My name is Venkataiah and I’ve been farming around Narsampet for as long as I can remember. My home is at H. No -1-230/5. It’s a quiet place compared to the big cities. Most of my day is spent outside. I wake up before the sun is even up to check on things. There is always something to fix or a field that needs looking at. Farming isn't an easy way to live, but it’s what my family has always done. The soil here in Laknepally is good if you treat it right. We deal with the weather as it comes, sometimes too much rain and sometimes not enough. I keep my tools and equipment in a small shed near the house. It’s not a fancy operation with big computers. I use my hands and some old machines that I’ve had to repair many times. Neighbors stop by to help out during the harvest and I do the same for them. That’s how we survive out here. Narsampet is the closest big town, so I go there for supplies when I have to. The rest of the time, I’m right here on the farm. It’s a lot of physical work and my back hurts by the end of the day. But looking at the green fields makes it worth the trouble. It’s just a simple life in the countryside. I wouldn't know what else to do with myself.
