Maa Gitanjali Hospital

You can find us right at Barpul Chowk, sitting along the Station Road. Being so close to the station means we hear the trains coming and going at all hours of the day and night. It’s a loud area, with people constantly rushing to catch their rides or coming home from work. Barpul Chowk is a landmark that everyone around here knows, so we don’t have to give directions very often. The hospital itself is a sturdy building that has been standing for a long time. It isn't like those modern hospitals with elevators and bright neon signs. We have stairs that people use, and the corridors are a bit narrow in some places. Every morning starts with the sound of the shutters going up and the street vendors setting up their carts nearby. We see a lot of people from the station who might be feeling unwell after a long journey. The floors are tiled and we spend a lot of time mopping them because of all the feet walking through. Sometimes the waiting room gets really crowded, and people end up standing near the door, chatting with each other. We have a small desk where we keep all the files organized by hand. It’s a busy, sometimes messy place, but it’s where we work every single day. There’s no pretending here; it’s just a hospital trying to keep up with the pace of Station Road.
