Siddhartha Engg Pvt Ltd is run by Pradipta Kumar Swain and we are located in Patapur, which is in the Puri district of Orissa. It is a rural area, so our office is quite simple and fits right in with the local houses and shops. We deal with a lot of mud and rain during the monsoon, so there are always floor mats at the door to catch the dirt from our boots. The office is basically one large room where we keep our tools, some cement samples, and the paperwork for the local projects we handle. There is a small porch outside where we sit and talk about the day's tasks while having some water. We don't have air conditioning, just a big pedestal fan that blows the papers around if we aren't careful. Being in Patapur means we know everyone in the village, and they know where to find us if they need something built or fixed. We use an old motorbike to get around to the different sites since the roads can be a bit narrow for bigger vehicles. It is honest work and we do it without much fuss. The walls are painted a simple cream color and have some calendars from previous years still hanging there. We just focus on getting the jobs done and making sure our equipment is looked after at the end of every day.
