Nirmala Bags

We are located at H. No. 8-42 in the Narayanapuram Mandal. Puttapaka is a quiet place, and Nirmala Bags fits right in with the local pace of things. Our workspace is basically filled with sewing machines and different types of heavy cloth. We spend our mornings cutting out patterns and then the rest of the day is just the constant hum of the needles. It is a very hands-on process from start to finish. We do not use any high-tech automation; it is mostly just us guiding the fabric through the machines by hand. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we have to take a break and sit outside on the porch for a bit. There is a lot of thread everywhere, and our fingers get pretty sore by the end of a long week. We make all kinds of bags, mostly focusing on things people can use for their daily shopping or carrying stuff around the village. It is honest work and it keeps a few of us busy and earning. We do not have a big showroom or anything like that. People just come by the house when they need something or to pick up what they ordered. The rhythm of the work is very steady. We start early to beat the heat and usually finish up before it gets too dark to see the stitches. It is just a small operation.
