About Kamal Rice Cultivation – Food & Beverages in Narayanapur
Our place is at Hno 2-10 in the SC Colony area of Puttapaka. Here in Narayanpur, rice is a big part of how we live. The cultivation takes up most of our time and energy. It is not just about planting seeds and waiting; there is the constant checking of the water levels in the paddies. We spend a lot of time with our feet in the mud, making sure the irrigation is flowing right. When the sun is out, it is brutal, and we wear hats to try and stay cool while we work the fields. The cycle of the seasons dictates everything we do. We prepare the land, then we wait for the rain or pump water when we have to. It is a lot of manual labor, bending over for hours, which makes your back ache by the time evening rolls around. We live right where we work, so there is no separation between home life and the farm. The village is quiet, and we all help each other out when someone’s tractor breaks down or when extra hands are needed for the harvest. It is a simple way of living, focused on the dirt and the grain. We don't have any big machines, just the basic stuff that has worked for us for years. It is a hard life, but there is a certain rhythm to it that feels right. We just take it one day at a time, watching the green shoots grow under the hot sun.
