Makmet Engineering

The workshop here in Makivalasa gets pretty hot during the summer months, but we just keep the fans going and get on with the work at Makmet Engineering. Most of our days are spent dealing with various metal pieces and machines that need looking after. Being out here in the Srikakulam district means we aren't in the middle of a big city, which is nice in some ways because it’s a bit quieter until the tools start running. We’ve been at this address for a while now, just handling whatever comes through the door. Sometimes the inventory piles up near the entrance and we have to spend a whole morning just organizing things so we can actually walk around. The guys usually take their break around noon and sit outside if there’s a breeze. It is a lot of practical work, getting hands dirty and making sure things are put together right. We don't really have a fancy office or anything like that. It’s just a place where things get made and repaired. You can hear the sounds of the road occasionally, but mostly it is just the hum of the equipment. We try to keep things simple and just focus on the tasks we have for the day. If a machine breaks down, we fix it ourselves. That is just how things go around here. Some days are busier than others, especially when a big order comes in and we have to stay late.
