Mysore Bricks Factory

Our factory is located over on 2nd Main Road in Tirumakudalu Narasipura. If you know the area, it’s not hard to find us at number 61-5-47. We make bricks. It’s what my father did and now it’s what we do. The clay comes in, we mix it, and then the workers shape them. T. Narasipura is a place with a lot of history, and we like being part of the building process around here. It’s dusty work. Every morning we check the kilns. If the fire isn’t right, the whole batch can be ruined. We’ve had those days where things don’t go as planned. The trucks come in and out all day long, taking the finished bricks to construction sites. We don't have a fancy office or anything. It's just a shed and the open yard where the bricks sit. Sometimes the heat is unbearable, especially in the summer months. We drink a lot of tea and just keep at it. The neighborhood has changed over the years, but the way we make bricks hasn't changed much. We use the local soil. It’s got a specific color to it. Most people around here know us by name. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just trying to make enough for the local builders. It’s a physical job, and by the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired. We just lock up and head home to rest for the next day.
