It’s been a few years now since we set up Asian Paints here on Junior College Road. You can find us right near the Surabhi Hotel, which is usually quite busy around lunch time. People mostly come in when they’re planning to fix up their living rooms or maybe just need a small tin for a door frame. We spend a lot of time behind the counter mixing colors and moving heavy cans around. It’s a bit dusty in here sometimes, but that’s just how paint shops go. We don't have a big fancy showroom, just rows of shelves and some color cards for folks to look at. My brother and I usually handle everything ourselves, from unloading the trucks to helping someone figure out if they need glossy or matte. It’s hard work, especially when it gets hot in the afternoons, but it keeps us busy. Most of our regulars live right in the neighborhood or are local painters who stop by on their way to a job. We’ve seen the street change quite a bit lately, with more traffic passing through 45697, but we’re still here doing the same thing. It’s not a glamorous job, just a lot of talking about shades of white and beige and making sure people get what they asked for. If you’re walking past the hotel, you’ll probably see us out front moving some stock or just taking a quick break. We try to keep things simple and just focus on the paint bottles and brushes.
