Dr. Tukaram Patel, Shivaji Colony, Nandurbar

We’ve been at 4-B Shivaji Colony for quite a bit now. Dr. Tukaram Patel usually gets here early, before the sun gets too high over Nandurbar. The clinic isn't huge, but it fits what we need for the day. Most days it's just local people from the colony coming in because they aren't feeling well or need a quick check. There is a small bench outside where people sit if the inside chairs are full. The walls are a plain off-white color and we have a ceiling fan that hums a lot when it’s on high. You can hear the neighbor’s kids playing outside sometimes in the afternoon. Nandurbar can be quite dusty, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the desks and the glass cabinet where the medicine is kept. It’s a simple setup. We don't have fancy lights or a big reception desk. It's just a place in the neighborhood where people know they can find the doctor. Most of the people who come here live just a few streets away, so we know most of the families by name. We see a lot of the same faces every month. Sometimes the morning gets busy and we run a bit behind, but usually, it stays pretty steady. We try to keep the door open for a breeze when it isn’t too windy outside. It’s just how things go here at Shivaji Colony every day.
