Birla Kennametal Limited

Working out here in B-15/4 at the MIDC in Valuj means you deal with a lot of heat and a lot of noise. It’s an industrial area, so there’s always the sound of trucks reversing or something heavy being moved around nearby. Birla Kennametal Limited has been part of this landscape for a good bit. The facility is large and can feel a bit empty if you’re walking through the halls alone, but there’s usually plenty of activity in the main areas. We get a lot of dust because of the location, so cleaning is a never-ending job that none of us really enjoys. Most of us live fairly close by, so the commute isn't too bad unless the main road is blocked. We have a routine that doesn't change much from Monday to Saturday. We start early before the sun gets too high and things get too sweaty. There’s a canteen where we sit and talk about nothing in particular during our breaks. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find plush carpets or modern art on the walls. It’s a functional space meant for heavy work. We focus on the tasks at hand and try to make sure everything is sorted before we head home. It is a straightforward way of life, and the people here are mostly just hard-working types who have been in this industry for decades.
