Yaalkani Impex Llp is based at D.No. 25/13, Mettu Street. It’s an old building, but it serves us well and keeps the rain out. Mettu Street is usually busy with people going about their business, and we are right in the middle of all that noise. We are a small partnership, just a couple of us who decided to go into the import-export trade together after working for other people for years. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, figuring out all the rules and taxes, but we’re finally getting the hang of it now. We don’t have any fancy titles or a big board of directors to answer to. We just do everything ourselves, from answering the phones to loading the smaller crates into the van. Sometimes it’s exhausting, but there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing a shipment finally head out on the truck. The space is a bit cramped because we have so much stock sometimes, but we make it work by stacking things high. We spend a lot of time talking to suppliers and trying to find the right materials. We don't really do much advertising. We just rely on doing a decent job so people come back to us next time. It’s a local operation, and we like it that way. We know the shopkeepers nearby and often stop for a quick chat when we’re out. It’s a community feeling here. We just want to keep the business steady.
