Vairam Hospital

Out on Paramathi Road in Namakkal, you’ll find Vairam Hospital. It’s a straightforward kind of place, easy to spot if you are driving down that way. Namakkal can get really hot, so we spend a lot of time making sure the indoor areas stay as cool as possible for the patients. The staff here usually brings their own lunch and we eat together in the small back room when there’s a gap in the appointments. We have been here long enough that we know the local rhythms, like when the traffic on Paramathi Road is going to be at its worst. Most of the people who come in are from the nearby farms or the town itself. We don’t use any big words or complicated systems. It is mostly just writing things down in the ledgers and making sure the medicine cabinet is stocked up. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, but we have a generator that kicks in after a minute of fumbling around in the dark. It’s all part of the daily routine. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters. We just have a building on the road where the doctors and nurses show up every morning. If you need something, you just come to the front desk and talk to whoever is sitting there. It’s a very normal, local setup. We try to keep it simple and just do the work that needs doing every day.
