Ssm College Of Engineering is right on the Salem Main Road, part of the NH-47, in Komarapalayam. Since we are right on the highway, we get a lot of the sounds from the trucks and buses passing by all day and night. It’s a very easy place to find because of that. The college has been a fixture in Komarapalayam for quite some time now. Most people in the town know where we are. The campus buildings are mostly concrete and have been painted a few times over the years to keep them looking okay. Inside, it’s all very straightforward. We have the usual labs with their various machines and the classrooms with rows of wooden benches. It isn't a place where we worry about being trendy. We just make sure the fans are working during the summer months and that the lights stay on. The staff room is a bit cramped, but it’s where we all end up talking about our day. There’s a lot of movement around the gate with students arriving from different parts of the district. We just try to keep things organized and make sure the schedule is followed. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place. We aren't trying to impress anyone with fancy talk; we just do our jobs on the side of the NH-47. It is loud and busy, but that’s just life in a highway college.
