South India Pipes

South India Pipes is situated at 56, Thiruvalluvar Salai, right on the By Pass Road in Velur. Being on the bypass road means there is a lot of heavy traffic passing by all day long. You can hear the big lorries and buses rumbling past the front door constantly. We have stacks of pipes and fittings sitting around the yard and inside the main building. It’s a bit of a dusty job, handling all that heavy material. We start our day early to beat the worst of the Velur heat. The sun can be really punishing on this stretch of road by midday. We don't have a lot of office space, mostly just a desk and some chairs where we handle the paperwork. Most of the time we are out on the floor or in the back area moving things around. It’s a very practical kind of place. We don't bother with fancy displays or anything like that. If you come by, you’ll probably see us in our work clothes, maybe a bit messy from moving the stock. Thiruvalluvar Salai is a busy street, so we have to be careful when loading things onto the trucks out front. It’s just how we do things here every day. We’ve become part of the landscape on this road over time. It’s hard work, but it keeps us busy and we know the trade well enough to keep things moving along steadily.
