Shankar Gowda

Our place is at 1-2-30, Raja Street, right on the Idappadi Road in Konganakaram. It’s a small town vibe here and everyone pretty much knows everyone else. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just us working out of this building on the corner. The street gets busy during the market days and we can hear the vendors shouting from inside. Shankar Gowda is the name on the door and we’ve been here for a good while. The roof leaks a tiny bit when the monsoon rains get really heavy so we have to move the chairs around. Most of the day is spent talking to people who walk in off the street. We use old notebooks to keep track of things because it’s just easier that way. The furniture is a bit worn out but it’s comfortable. We have a small back room where we keep the supplies and a kettle for tea. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to chat for a few minutes while we are working. It’s a slow pace compared to the big cities but we like it that way. We don't have any fancy marketing plans or anything. We just open the doors in the morning and do the work that needs doing until it’s time to go home. It’s simple and it works for us. The walk to the main road takes about five minutes if you move fast. We just take each day as it comes.
