New Milliem Kids School

Namakkal Bazaar is always a bit chaotic with all the traffic, but once you turn into Kavery Nagar and find H4, things settle down a bit for the kids at New Milliem. It is not a huge place, just a regular school where we spend our days looking after the little ones and teaching them their basic lessons. You can usually hear the sound of children singing or playing from the street outside on Trichy Road. We have several rooms filled with small desks and plenty of posters on the walls that the teachers put up to make the place look a bit more cheerful. It gets quite warm in Namakkal during the afternoons, so we make sure the fans are always running while the kids are doing their drawings or learning their ABCs. Parents usually drop their children off early in the morning, and there is always a lot of chatter at the gate. We don't have a massive playground, but there is enough space for them to run around a little during the break. The staff here are mostly local people who have been working with children for years. We deal with messy desks, lost water bottles, and the occasional scraped knee, which is just how it goes when you run a kids' school. It’s a lot of work keeping everything organized, but we just take it one day at a time and try to keep the classrooms tidy.
