Nandanam Enggineering College

Nandanam Enggineering College is located out in Rasipuram, over at 21 B Bharati Nagar on the SS Salai. It’s a bit of a drive from the main Namakkal town, but that makes it a bit quieter for the students who study here. We have a lot of young people coming in from the surrounding villages every morning on the yellow college buses. The campus has a lot of trees, but the sun in this part of Tamil Nadu still gets very hot by noon. I spend a lot of time in the administrative office where the fans are always spinning on the ceiling. We have these long concrete corridors that echo when the classes are in session and the students are moving around. The labs have that specific smell of grease and electrical equipment that never really goes away. It’s a lot of work keeping everything running, from the water coolers to the library books on the shelves. We don't have all the flashy gadgets of some big city universities, but we have what we need to teach the subjects. During the exam season, the whole place feels a bit tense, and you see students huddled under the trees with their notebooks. The staff room is usually a mess of blue books and coffee mugs that need washing. We try to keep the garden green, but the soil here is quite dry most of the year. It’s just a simple institution for local kids to learn.
