KOMARAPALAYAM HANDLOOM WEAVING TEXTILES CLUSTER

We operate out of 31 N, Ayyampalayam in Kumarapalayam. It’s a place known for weaving, and that’s exactly what we do here. This cluster is a group effort to keep the handloom tradition going in our area of Namakkal. It’s not a fancy office building; it’s more of a community workspace where the looms are the main focus. You can hear the rhythmic clicking of the wood all day long. We have a lot of weavers who have been doing this since they were kids. It’s a skill that’s passed down, and we’re just here to coordinate the work and help get the products out. The building itself is quite old and simple. We don't have air conditioning or anything like that. We just open the windows and let the air circulate. The work is slow compared to the big power looms, but that’s the point of what we do. We manage the administration from a small corner of the unit. It’s a lot of coordinating between the different weavers and the buyers. We don't use much technology besides the basics. It’s more about the hands and the threads. We just try to keep the work steady for everyone involved in the cluster. It’s a good way to live and work.
