Chinnathamby Departmental Store

We are located right at 50, Bazaar Street in Mohanur, where there's always something going on outside our door. Chinnathamby Departmental Store is the kind of place where you can find a bit of everything, from plastic buckets to spices. It’s a narrow shop, so we have to stack things high up to the ceiling. I usually have to use a long stick with a hook to get things down for people. It’s not a polished supermarket with wide aisles. It’s a bit crowded, and you might have to squeeze past someone to get to the back. We try to keep things organized, but on busy market days, it’s a bit of a struggle. Everyone in Mohanur seems to pass by Bazaar Street at some point, so we see a lot of faces. We spend the day weighing out pulses, bagging sugar, and making sure we don’t run out of the basics. There’s no air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that move the warm air around. We don’t use any fancy computers for everything; a lot of it is still done with a pen and a notebook. It’s a real, local business run by people who live right here. We don't make big promises, we just try to have what you need when you walk in. If we don’t have it, we’ll try to get it for you by next week. That is just how we run things in Mohanur.
