Maskara Emporium

Maskara Emporium is located right out on National Highway 64 in the Nalhati area of Birbhum. Since we’re right on the NH, we see a lot of people passing through from all over the district. The shop is a bit of a landmark for those who travel this road often. We stock a variety of items that you’d expect to find in a local emporium. It’s a big space but it always feels full of stuff. We spend a lot of our time dusting the shelves because of the trucks driving past on the highway. Being in Nalhati means we are part of a busy community. We don’t use any complex business models here. We just buy what people need and sell it at a fair price. My family and I are often here from early morning until late evening. You can usually find someone sitting near the front entrance ready to help. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, even when the highway gets loud. We don't have a website with fancy photos. Most people just see the sign from the road and stop in to see what we have. It's a simple life running a shop in Birbhum. We know the local farmers and the travelers who stop by every few months. It’s all about the daily routine and making sure the shop stays stocked for whoever walks through the door next. Sometimes the stock changes, but we’re always here at the same spot on the highway.
