Bablu Stone Works

Bablu Stone Works is situated in Rajgram, which is a well-known spot for this kind of work in the Birbhum district. If you live around here, you know that Rajgram is all about stone. Our yard is just one of many, but we have been at it for a long time. It is a loud place to be with the sound of hammers and machines going off and on throughout the day. We do not have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It is just Bablu’s place, where we get the stone cut and shaped however it needs to be. The dust is everywhere, on our clothes, in our hair, and all over the trucks that come to pick up the orders. We do not mind it much though, as it is just part of being in Birbhum and working in the stone trade. Most of the guys here have been doing this since they were young. We do not use any fancy language to describe what we do. We just take big pieces of rock and turn them into something useful. Sometimes we have a lot of work and we are here late into the evening, and other times it is a bit quieter. We just take the orders as they come in from the local builders. It is a practical, straightforward business. We are not trying to be the biggest or the most famous, we just want to keep the yard running.
