Yadaiah Cattle Rearing

Our family is at house 5-81/1 in Harijanawada, Jangam. I am Yadaiah and I am the one responsible for the cattle rearing here. We have a small yard where we keep the animals, and it is a full-time job for sure. There are no weekends or holidays when you have cattle to look after. Every morning I am out there before the rest of the town is even awake. I start by cleaning the area and then getting the feed ready. We buy our grain from the market in Jangam, and I have to transport it back myself. It’s hard on the back, but it has to be done. We don't have any employees, so the work falls on me and my family members. We don't use any modern machinery, just the basic tools that have been around for years. The cattle are good animals, but they can be stubborn sometimes. You have to be patient with them. We don't have any big goals or missions. We just want to make sure the cows stay healthy and that we have enough to keep the operation running. It’s a very local way of living and we are well-known in the Harijanawada neighborhood. People stop by to chat while I’m working in the shed. It’s a simple, honest life and we are content with just doing our daily work without making a big fuss about it. That is how things are for us here.
