Venkatesam Cettle Rearing

Down in Harijanawada, within the Narayanapuram Mandal, you'll find us working with the livestock. Venkatesam Cettle Rearing is a small operation, but it takes up every hour of our day. We spend most of our time in the backyard and the open patches near Jangam. It starts with the first light, getting the feed ready and checking if any of the cows are acting strange. Narayanapuram Mandal is a good place for this because it’s mostly quiet. We don’t have a marketing team or a sales department. It’s just the family and a couple of helpers sometimes. The ground is often dusty, and the work is very repetitive. You clean the stalls, you feed the animals, you milk them, and then you do it all over again in the evening. It’s a life that depends on the seasons and the health of the herd. We don’t really think about it as a company in the way people in the city do. It’s just what we do to get by. Sometimes a vet has to come out from the town if something goes wrong. Mostly, we handle things ourselves. The address in Harijanawada is where we live and work, so there’s no real gap between the two. It’s hard on the back, but it’s the life we’ve always had here in Jangam. We don't mind the long hours as long as the animals are doing well and the work gets finished.
