Sri Vari Stroes

Located at 64 Bujilapuram, on the way to Mothkur Road, Sri Vari Stroes has been a fixture for the locals here. It’s a basic setup. We have wooden shelves that my uncle built years ago, and they’ve held up pretty well despite all the weight we put on them. We sell everything from soap to big bags of flour. The morning usually starts with checking what we sold the day before and writing a list for the wholesaler. Mothkur Road gets a lot of people traveling through, so we get a fair share of strangers stopping for a cold drink or a pack of biscuits. The building is a bit cramped, especially when we get a big delivery and the boxes are sitting in the aisle. We try to clear it out fast, but sometimes it takes a few hours. I usually sit near the entrance where it’s a bit cooler. The roof is made of tin, so when it rains, it gets incredibly loud inside and we can’t even hear the customers talking. We have a small television in the corner that we keep on for the news, mostly for the cricket scores. It’s not a high-tech operation. We use a manual scale for the vegetables and grains. People like that they can come in and just chat for a bit. It feels good to be part of the Bujilapuram community. I hope we can stay here for many more years.
