Ramulamma Repaka

Living and working at H. No. 2-163 in Gurrampode has its own rhythm. Being out here in the village and mandal area, things move a lot slower than in the big cities. I am Ramulamma Repaka, and this place is basically where my whole life happens. The house is old, and we have adjusted the front part to handle our business needs. You can hear the goats and chickens from the neighbors' yards most of the time while we are working. It is dusty because the roads around here are not all paved yet, so I spend a lot of time sweeping the front porch. People from around the village just walk in whenever they feel like it. We do not really have official opening hours or a big sign on the gate. Everyone knows who we are anyway. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit outside under the shade of the big tree until it comes back on. It is not a very polished way to run things, I suppose. I keep all the accounts in a thick register with a red cover. My children sometimes help out with the heavy lifting or when I cannot understand some of the newer paperwork. It is a family thing, really. We just take each day as it comes and try to do right by the people who live nearby. It is simple, practical, and it keeps us busy enough.
