Lakshmamma Animal Production

Our place is located at 5-199 in Harijanawada, right in the Janagam area. My name is Lakshmamma and this animal production work is what keeps our family going. We have several different animals that we look after in the space behind our home. It’s not a big corporate setup or anything like that. It’s just us doing the chores every single day. The morning starts with the sound of the animals wanting their food. I have to get up early to make sure they are fed before the heat of the afternoon hits Janagam. It can get really hot here and the animals feel it just as much as we do. We spend a lot of time making sure they have enough water and that the sheds are ventilated well. Sometimes my neighbors come over to talk about the price of feed or to help me if an animal is acting strange. We don't have any big marketing plans or shiny brochures. Everything we do is hands-on and practical. If a fence breaks, we fix it with whatever wire or wood we have around. It’s a constant cycle of feeding, cleaning, and checking on them. It’s hard work on the legs and back but we have been doing it for so long that we don't know any other way. We just take it one day at a time here at the house. It's a busy life but an honest one for our family.
