About Koti Cattle Rearing – Agriculture & Farming in Nalgonda
We are based at house number 53 in Kadapagandi Thanda, which is near Janagam. My name is Koti and I have been doing cattle rearing for a long time. It’s a quiet life here in the Thanda and most of my hours are spent with the cows. They need a lot of looking after from early in the morning. I usually head out to the shed while it’s still dark to check on them. We don’t use any big machines, just our own strength to carry the feed and water. The ground around here can be quite hard and rocky, so we have to watch where the cattle walk so they don’t hurt themselves. It’s a small family affair with my relatives helping out when the work gets too heavy for one person. We don’t have a fancy business office or anything. Our work happens right in the yard and the nearby fields. Sometimes we have to walk quite a distance to find enough green grass for them to graze on. We know every cow by its face and its temperament. Some are calm and some are a bit wild. We deal with the rain and the heat as it comes. It’s just the way things are for us. We don’t have any big goals other than keeping the animals healthy and making sure they are well-fed every day. It’s a simple, tough life but it is our life here in Janagam.
