Padmavathi Cotton Industries

Our place is out at Sy Nos 50, 52, and 53 in the Kokkirala Gowraram area, specifically near Mallareddy Pally. It is a bit of a long trek to get out here from the city, but it is where the real work happens. Padmavathi Cotton Industries is mostly just a collection of large sheds and a wide yard for the cotton to sit. We spend our days unloading heavy sacks and running the ginning machines as fast as they will go. It is a lot of physical labor for everyone involved. My hands are usually quite calloused from handling the rough bales all day. We do not have a receptionist or a fancy lobby for visitors. You just walk into the yard and find whoever happens to be working at the time. We get our water from a nearby well and we eat our lunch together under the tin roof of the main shed. It is very hot in the summer and the dust can get incredibly thick, but we have all gotten used to it by now. The local farmers bring their crops to us because we have been in this spot for a very long time. We know them and their families, and they know us just as well. There is not any kind of corporate strategy or big plan here. We just want to do a decent job and then go home to our families.
