You will find us out on Garidepalli Road at S No 19. It’s a bit of a trek out here, and the road is usually covered in fine grit. Sri Venkateswara Stone Crushers is a noisy place, to be honest. The machines are running most of the time, and you can feel the vibration in the ground. We don’t have a fancy office or a lobby. It’s just a small shack where we keep the books and take a break from the sun. The sun is really hot out here in the open. We spend a lot of time checking the equipment and making sure the stones are moving. It’s heavy work and it makes you tired by the end of the shift. We’ve been on Garidepalli Road for a long time. The landscape hasn’t changed much, just more dust and more work. We don’t really talk about missions or visions. We just crush the stone and load the trucks. The tea guy comes by twice a day and that’s usually the highlight. We wear boots because the ground is rough and uneven everywhere you walk. It’s not the kind of place where you wear a suit. We just do the job and go home when it’s done. It is simple, hard work that keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. There is always more stone to move and another truck waiting to get filled up.
