Dhanalaxmi Furniture Works

Dhanalaxmi Furniture Works is run out of H. No. 20-352/2/2 in Hanuman Nagar, over in Devarakonda. If you come by, you’ll likely hear the sound of saws and hammers before you even see the shop. The place is usually covered in a thin layer of sawdust, no matter how much we sweep it up. We work with all kinds of wood to make chairs, tables, and cabinets for the locals. It’s a small workshop, so things can get a bit tight when we have a big project going on in the middle of the floor. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights and carpets. Instead, we have stacks of planks and half-finished pieces sitting around waiting for a coat of varnish. Hanuman Nagar is where we’ve set up our home and business together. It’s local work for local people in the (T& M) and (D) area of T. S. We spend our days measuring twice and cutting once, or at least we try to. Sometimes a piece of wood has a knot we didn't see, or a tool goes blunt, and we have to stop and fix it. It’s manual labor that leaves us tired at the end of the day. We like the smell of fresh cut timber, even if it gets in our hair and clothes. People usually bring us a sketch or just tell us what they need, and we try to build it from there. It’s a simple life of making things that last for the folks around Devarakonda.
