About Lakshmi Textiles – Agriculture & Farming in Nalgonda
The building is at 4 1 1/4 on Hussainabad Road in Bhongir. It’s a bit of a busy stretch with trucks going past all day long heading out of town. Inside Lakshmi Textiles, the air usually smells like raw cotton and the sizing we use on the threads. We have rolls of cloth stacked up against the walls, some of them have been there for a bit while others go out the same day they arrive. The lighting isn't the best in the back of the warehouse, so we mostly work near the front where the big doors stay open. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, especially in the summer months here. We have a couple of old fans that move the air around but they don't do much. People from the nearby villages come in quite often looking for specific types of fabric for their own work. We just pull things down and show them what we've got on hand. There is no fancy showroom or anything like that, just the piles of goods and a big table for cutting. My ledger sits on a wooden desk near the entrance where I keep track of what comes in and what goes out. It is a straightforward business and we don't try to make it something it isn't. The floor is concrete and stays a bit stained, but the work gets done and the customers seem to find what they need for their shops or homes.
