You can find us over in Khata Kheddi, near the Pani Ki Tankki in Saharanpur. That water tank is the best way to explain where we are if you get lost. We are Shued Handicraft, and we spend most of our daylight hours working on wood or whatever materials we have. Saharanpur is famous for this kind of work, so there are many people doing it, but we just focus on our own little corner. Our workshop isn't much to look at from the outside. It’s a bit messy with wood shavings and tools scattered around. We try to clean up, but five minutes into a new project and the floor is covered again. We don’t use many big machines, mostly just our hands and some old tools that have been around for years. It takes a lot of patience to get the details right. Sometimes we mess up and have to start over, which is frustrating, but that’s how you learn. The neighborhood is quiet enough, except for the occasional noise from the water tank area. We just sit here, carve, sand, and finish things one by one. It’s not a fast process. If you want something quick, we aren’t the right people. We take our time because that's the only way we know how to do it. It's just a small family thing, really.
