Saree Mahal Durga

You can find our shop, Saree Mahal Durga, in the Durga Market. We are located on Sahukar Lane, which is very close to the Sharda Hotel. If you know that hotel, you cannot miss us. The lane is quite narrow and can get very crowded with shoppers and delivery carts. Our shop is packed with sarees from floor to ceiling. We have so many boxes that we have had to stack them in the corners. It is a bit difficult to move around when we have more than a few people inside. We have been here for a long time and we know almost everyone else in Durga Market. Most of our day is spent helping people pick out fabrics and showing them different patterns. It is a lot of lifting and folding, which can be tiring by the end of the day. We do not have a big fancy sign outside, just the name above the door. The shop has an old smell of fabric and incense. We have a small stool for customers to sit on while they look at the sarees. Sometimes the street outside gets flooded after a heavy rain, and we have to put up some planks of wood. It is an old market with its own set of problems, but we would not want to be anywhere else. We just take things one day at a time here on Sahukara Line. It is a busy, colorful life.
