Dolphin Ice Cream

You can find us on Rampur Road, specifically Street No.4 in Haldwali. Being here in the Nainital district means the weather changes quite a bit, though it’s not as cold down here as it is up in the hills. Our building is pretty simple, just a workshop where we keep the freezers and the mixing vats. The street outside is mostly residential, so we try not to make too much noise early in the morning, but the delivery vans have to go out. We named it Dolphin Ice Cream because we liked the sound of it, nothing more complicated than that. Most of the guys working here are from the local neighborhood. We spend the day checking batches and making sure the sugar and cream are right. Sometimes the cows from the nearby farm wander onto the road and block the gate, which is just part of living in Haldwali. The floor is always a bit wet from cleaning the equipment, so we all wear rubber boots. It’s a small operation, not like those big factories you see in the cities. We have a small counter at the front if anyone wants to stop by, but mostly we are just busy with the production side of things. It gets busy during the summer months when everyone wants something cold, but in the winter, things slow down and we do a lot of maintenance on the machines and clean the storage tanks.
