Alaap People'S Foundation

Our office is in Hall No-10 on the first floor of the Sanwal Chadha Complex. It’s right in the Durga City Center on Nainital Road in Haldwani. It’s a busy spot with lots of shops around. Alaap People'S Foundation isn't a shop though. We are a small group working on local issues. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit steep. Once you get inside, it’s a large open room. A few desks are pushed together to make space. It’s not the most stylish place, but it works for us. We spend a lot of time on Nainital Road, talking to people and seeing what’s going on. Haldwani is a gateway to the hills, so a lot of people are always passing through. Our focus is on the folks who actually live here year-round. There are always challenges with water or trash or just helping people get their paperwork in order. A fancy logo or a big sign doesn't exist here. Most people just know us as the folks in Hall 10. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to work by candlelight for a bit. It’s just part of being here. We don't have a lot of money, but time and care are things we give to this town. Things are taken as they come and we try to be useful whenever possible.
