Stone Crushar

Our place is located right out in Kala Amb village, not too far from the Markanda River. It’s a dusty kind of work, as you’d expect with a stone crusher. We spend most of our daylight hours out here making sure the machinery is running like it’s supposed to. Some days the weather makes things difficult, especially when the river gets high or the rain turns the ground into a mess. But we just keep at it. We aren't big on talk or fancy presentations. We have the equipment and the space to process the stone, and that's about it. People from the surrounding areas know where to find us if they need materials for a project. It’s a simple operation, really. Just a few of us making sure the crushers are fed and the piles are sorted correctly. It can get pretty noisy when everything is going full tilt. We start early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. Being near the river is nice, even if we are mostly focused on the rocks and the dust. We’ve been at this for a bit now and have gotten used to the rhythm of the machines. There’s always something to fix or grease or adjust. It is hard work, but it’s honest and it keeps us busy. We don’t really bother with much else besides getting the job done before the sun goes down and we can head home. It is just the way things are out here.
