Our place is on the second floor of Panjwani Market in Itwari. It’s near the Nanga Putla Teennal Chowk, which is a very well-known landmark in this part of Nagpur. Vinod B. Batra And Company has been operating from this market for a good while. The stairs up to the second floor are a bit steep, so you have to watch your step. Itwari is always bustling with traders and goods moving around. The office itself is small and packed with stuff. There are shelves reaching up to the ceiling filled with records. It feels a bit tight when there are more than four people inside, but we make it work. We don't have any polished floors or modern lighting. It is just basic bulbs and fans. The noise from the market below comes up through the windows, reminding us of how busy the area is. We spend most of our time at our desks. There isn't much room for anything else. Sometimes we share a quick tea while discussing the day's work. It is not a flashy life, but it is a busy one. We know the other shopkeepers in Panjwani Market and it feels like a little community. We just keep our heads down and get through the files. Some days are longer than others, especially near the end of the month, but we just keep at it until it's finished.
