Vajaha (Vana Jana Hakka) Foundation

You can find Vajaha Foundation, which some people call Vana Jana Hakka, over at Plot No 16 on the Manewada Ring Road. We are tucked right behind Shikaripura Hardware in the Akash Nagar area. It is a busy spot with all the trucks and people buying building materials nearby. We focus a lot on the rights of people who live in or near the forests. It is tough work because many of those people don't have anyone to speak up for them in the city. We spend our days going through paperwork and trying to understand the laws so we can explain them to the folks who need it. The office is often full of people who have traveled a long way to tell us about their land or their problems with the authorities. We drink a lot of tea and listen to many stories. Sometimes the stories are hard to hear. We aren't a big organization with lots of money. We just have a couple of desks and some chairs that have seen better days. Being behind the hardware store makes us easy to find for locals. We don't make big promises, we just try to help people keep what is theirs. It is a lot of back-and-forth with government offices, but someone has to do it. Akash Nagar is our home base, and we stay busy here from morning until the sun goes down.
