Our little spot for Shri Swamikrupa Chit Fund Privatelimited is right there in Guru Nanak Nagar at House No. 28. It's not a big fancy office building with glass walls or anything like that. Instead, it is just a regular house where we handle the monthly chit fund cycles for people around Nehru Chowk. Most days, the only sounds are the ceiling fan and the papers shuffling on the desk. You’ll find us there in the mornings getting the ledgers ready. Neighbors drop by after they finish their shopping or on their way to work. We talk about the local news and who’s doing what while we sort out the payments. The street outside gets pretty busy with traffic coming from the chowk, but inside stays fairly calm. A couple of old chairs are available for anyone who needs to sit and wait. It isn’t much to look at, but it’s where the work happens. Tracking every rupee by hand takes time, but it ensures the records are right. Sometimes the ink on the stamp gets a bit messy, but that’s part of the daily routine. Knowing the faces of the families who participate in the fund makes it better. It’s a small operation, and we like it that way because managing everything is easier when you know everyone personally.
